The specification is market leading in respect to sustainability and green issues.  The preliminary assessment for a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment) rating is "excellent".  The as-built Energy Performance Certificates for the scheme have been rated "A".

More than 30% of the projected energy usage will come from Renewable sources.  Multi-zone underfloor heating and a fully automated wood pellet Biomass boiler ensure a cheap and environmentally friendly solution.  Covered cycle spaces with shower facilities and drying area encourage sustainable travel.  Rainwater harvesting, sustainable underground drainage, leak detector systems, low water usage WCs add to the story.  A highly insulated structure and inherent thermal mass reduce energy requirements, together with generous amounts of windows area and shallow floor plates.
